Living In Victory
By Patricia M. Charles, Territorial Women’s Ministries President, Tortolla, British Virgin Islands
Many times we want to wage war on the Enemy and often we become easily defeated because we do not know how to defeat the Enemy. God has given us everything that we need in order to defeat the Enemy, but first we must put on the whole armor, and then, we must know how to use each piece effectively. Remember, we are not fighting each other, but the Enemy of our soul.
Let’s look at what Ephesians 6:10-17 says,
10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
11 Put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
Twice God tells us that we need to put the armor on; He will not do it for us.
The helmet of salvation: In order to defeat the enemy with the helmet, you must know for sure that you are saved, born again, redeemed by the blood of Jesus. The scripture tells us that we were “chosen for salvation” so we need to tell the enemy we know that we know we are saved, because we were chosen.
The belt of truth: We defeat the Enemy by always telling the truth, standing in integrity. Many times we try to get ourselves out of situations by not being truthful or compromising, but if we are going to defeat the Enemy, we must always be truthful no matter what it costs us.
The breast plate of righteousness: We have been made righteous because of God, and many times the Enemy tries to remind us of our past and that we are unable to stand before God. Remember, when Jesus’ blood washed us, we were washed totally clean and no longer are our sins remembered because God chooses to forget. We have been made righteous because He is righteous.
The gospel of peace: We must be willing to always spread the gospel. Again, the Enemy wants to tell us that we are not bold enough, or we are unable to spread the gospel and be at peace. Again, remind him the word says how beautiful are the feet of those who spread gospel. So we need to be bold.
The shield of faith is so essential. The scripture says above all, without this piece of armor we will be defeated. But listen, when the devil tries to get you to doubt or to be fearful, hold up your shield, tell him without faith it is impossible to please God and because we want to please Him, we will always keep our shield of faith ready. Every doubt must be gone.
Then we need our sword, the Word. We defeat the Enemy with the Word. The Enemy will do all he can to stop you from reading and studying the Word. He will make us so busy, that we just cannot seem to find the time. Stop and take some time out, read and study the Word because for every demonic attack, we have God’s prophetic response, the Word. Believe it, receive it and apply it and you will not be defeated.
Let us put on the whole armor so we can live the life of victory every day.
