"All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness" (2 Timothy 3:16).
(Read: Hebrews 4:12, Acts 6:2, 8:14, 11:1, 13:44; 2 Chronicles 7:14).
READ THE BIBLE THROUGH THIS YEAR. IT’S NOT TOO LATE TO START! (Malachi 3:16).
Read the Bible to know who God is, who you are, and why this world was created.
Then you can know the purpose and meaning of life. Bible study leads to God, who is the Truth.
If you hold to His teachings, then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free (John 8:31, 32).
The "Illumination of the Spirit"
The Holy Spirit illuminates the minds and opens the hearts of Bible readers to speak into their lives.
A good prayer to always repeat before starting daily Bible reading is this Psalmist’s prayer:
"Open my eyes, that I may behold wonderful things from Your Law" (Psalm 119:18).
When we pray we speak to God, when we read the Bible, God speaks to us and touches our lives, giving us His power of faith, love and hope, with the mysterious power of the Word of God.
It is the work of the Holy Spirit to reveal to us the whole truth, and to fill our hearts with His love.
It is our role to be diligent students of the Word of God, and to be faithful to His commandments.
READ AND STUDY THE BIBLE TO BE APPROVED AND REWARDED BY GOD
How? By God’s wisdom and knowledge that speaks to every present-day problem. Josiah knew the Book was the law of the Lord.… He stood head and shoulders above other kings of Judah and Israel. His humble, obedient response to the Book was and remains a model of how all people should respond to God’s revealed Word. He listened to the Scripture, allowed its words of truth to judge him and humbly confessed he had neglected God’s commands. After learning more about its truth, he shared the Scripture with others and led them in following it (2 Chronicles 34:18, 19, 21). Accept God’s words and store up His commands within you to understand what is right, just and fair. (Read Proverbs 2:1-10, NIV).
