Provision in His Presence — Week 3
By Sandra Kay Williams, State President, California-Nevada
“Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord” (Acts 3:19).
The disciples had also learned that in His presence was provision. They experienced this on more than one occasion. In Mark chapter 6, I’m reminded of the feeding of the five thousand with only five loaves and two fish. After He blessed it, they saw the food multiply before their very eyes and they themselves gathered up twelve baskets full that were left over. Wherever He went, Jesus provided for the needs of those around Him. He especially took care of His own. They trusted Him not only for food but also for money. In Matthew 17:24-27, Peter was faced with paying the temple-tax. Jesus told him to go the lake and fish. Would you believe that the fish he caught when he went fishing had the exact coin they needed to pay what was owed? Amazing isn’t it?! He told them to pay their taxes and we still should today. He said render unto Caesar that which belongs to Caesar (Matthew 22:21).
The money that the Lord provided had Caesar’s inscription on it. That inscription was very important because it showed that it truly belonged to Caesar. The Bible tells us that God has us engraved in His hand. That means we belong to Him. We were made in His likeness and in His image and we are His. We belong to Him and to His kingdom. In His presence is provision. He owns the cattle on a thousand hills. He doesn’t lack for anything. He has promised to meet our every need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus our Lord.
One way you remain in His presence and experience His provision is to bring the tithe to Him. Ten percent belongs to Him, but some Christians steal what is His. Are you calling me a thief? No, but the Bible is pretty clear in Malachi 3:7-11.
Yes, there are Christians who take the tithe and use it for their own needs or wants and the devil devours the rest. Where as, if they had brought the tithe that is already His, the Lord would have protected them from the devourer and made the remaining 90% go farther than the original 100%. If you’re struggling financially, you’ll never break free unless you get in His presence and with His plan of tithing. The disciples knew Him as their provider and you can, too. In His presence are protection and provision, and next week we will see the power of His presence.
Prayer: Thank You, Lord Father, that You own the cattle on a thousands hills, that money is no problem with You. You are my provider. Help me to remain in Your presence where provision is never a concern or worry for me or my family. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
