Power of His Presence — Week 4

By Sandra Kay Williams, State President, California-Nevada

“Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord” (Acts 3:19).

We previously learned that the disciples knew that in Jesus’ presence there was protection and provision. This final week let’s look at the power of His presence.

How would you like to have been a witness when He cast out devils, healed the blind, or raised the dead? The disciples didn’t just hear or read about this miracle worker. They had actually been there in His presence and seen it with their own eyes.

They saw Him cast out Legion from the demoniac of Gadera into a herd of swine that threw themselves over a cliff and into the sea. (Mark 4)

They saw Him spit and put mud in the eyes of a blind man and tell him to wash in the pool of Siloam. He came back seeing (John 6).

They saw Him stop the funeral procession of the son of the widow of Nain. He crawled out of the coffin and went on his way (Luke 7:11-15).

They saw Lazarus come forth with grave clothes on after he had been in the tomb four days just at Jesus’ word (John 11:38-44).

Jairus’daughter was raised from the dead while the mourners were outside the door weeping and wailing (Mark 5).

The disciples witnessed the power of His presence. They wanted, needed, and craved the protection, provision, and power of His corporal presence. His power is available to operate in you today if you will remain in His presence. After the day of Pentecost, the disciples were empowered to do even greater (in quantity) miracles.

Do you long for His presence with that same fervor? He’s looking for people who will hunger and thirst for Him. David said, “As a deer pants for the water brooks, so pants my soul for You, O God” (Psalm 42:1, NKJV). Do you want His presence more than anything? Psalm 16:11 promises, “. . . In thy presence is fullness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.”

Prayer: Father God, help me to acknowledge Your presence, invite Your presence, and remain in Your presence that Your protection, provision, and power will be evident in my life.
