Apple of the Eye — Week 2

THE NATION OF ISRAEL:

Deuteronomy 32:10:  “He found him in a desert land, and in the waste howling wilderness; he led him about, he instructed him, he kept him as the apple of his eye” (emphasis added).

Psalm 17:8:  “Keep me as the apple of the eye; hide me under the shadow of thy wings” (emphasis added).

Proverbs 7:2:  “Keep my commandments, and live; and my law as the apple of thine eye” (emphasis added).

Lamentations 2:18:  “Their heart cried unto the Lord; O wall of the daughter of Zion, let tears run down like a river day and night:  give thyself no rest; let not the apple of thine eye cease” (emphasis added).

Zechariah 2:8:  “For thus saith the Lord of hosts; after the glory hath He sent me unto the nations which spoiled you:  for He that toucheth you toucheth the apple of his eye” (emphasis added).

THE CHURCH:

Acts 20:28:  “Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which He hath purchased with His own blood.”

Ephesians 5:25:  “Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it.”

WOMEN WHOM  I FEEL WERE THE APPLE OF GOD’S EYE:

Esther:  In the queen’s position at the right place and right time to save the Jewish people.

Mary:  The mother of Jesus (Luke 1:28-42).

Mary Magdalene:  “And certain women, which had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities, Mary called Magdalene, out of whom went seven devils (Luke 8:2).

Poor Widow:  “And He saw also a certain poor widow casting in thither two mites.  And he said, Of a truth I say unto you, that this poor widow hath cast in more than they all” (Luke 21:2, 3).

SOME SPECIAL DISTINCTIONS OF WOMEN:

  • LAST at the cross
  • FIRST at the tomb
  • FIRST to proclaim the resurrection
  • FIRST preacher to the Jews (Luke 2:34-38)
  • ATTENDED the first prayer meeting
  • FIRST to greet Christian missionaries (Paul and Silas in Europe)
  • FIRST European converts

HOW CAN WE BE THE “APPLE OF GOD’S EYE?”

  • Be a prayer warrior
  • Tithe
  • Give of our offerings
  • Use our singing talent
  • Play musical instruments (this includes the clapping of our hands.)
  • Teaching
  • Encouraging
  • Participate in Women’s Ministries (this takes in a lot of different ministries.)
