My Pot Is Cracked! — Week 5
By Melinda Tomlin, Pastor’s Wife, Mineral Wells Church of God, Mineral Wells, Texas

“And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpillar and the palmerworm, my great army which I sent among you” (Joel 2:25).

Years take a toll, don’t they?  We are sagging in places that shouldn’t sag and drooping in places that weren’t made to droop!  Our hair is turning—well—GREY, and there are these funny little lines growing just outside our eyes.

Our vessel has never been perfect, but it gets more imperfect every day!  In fact, life has caused our pot to crack!  Struggles, trials, and burdens that we’ve had to bear over the years have chipped away at our vessel, making us tired and weary, sometimes even ready to throw in the towel.

And then we wonder—can God use me just as I am?  The answer is emphatically, YES!  In fact, He needs your imperfections and struggles to accomplish His mission of reaching souls.  The fact that you have faced adversity and are still standing will show others that they, too, can be victorious.

Ladies, our vessel was made to endure pain and heartache.  Otherwise, the burden of childbirth would not have befallen the woman.  But out of great pain comes even greater joy!  We are survivors!  We are restored!  We have been kept safe thus far!

Thought for the Day:  We are useful to God no matter our size, shape, age, race, or physical condition.  If He can use anything, He can use me.
