Father Son Cookout

Sponsor a Saturday afternoon cook-out for fathers and sons. This will be a fun-filled two hours that provides food and ellowship for men and boys. This event can be at someone’s home, at the church or even a park. Arrangements should be made ahead of time to have the food ready so as the men and boys arrive, they can begin eating.

Theme: “Men Under Construction”

Food: Hamburgers, Hot Dogs, Chips, Cookies and Soft Drinks

Favor: A small plastic tool box for each father and son

Games: After lunch the fathers and sons are divided into teams.
Games that can be played: Banana-eating contest, water balloon toss, egg toss, toilet paper race, carry a lemon under your chin, carry a balloon between legs, sitting on a balloon popping it.

Prizes: Each father and son would bring one tool that would be used as the prizes for the games or as door prizes to be given out

Awards: An award could be created for each father and son(s) team and given at the end of the day. Awards could be “The team that tried the hardest,” “The team that laughed the most,” “The team that had the best team spirit.”

Devotion: After the awards and door prizes are given, finish the day with a devotion and prayer. The devotion is on how dads give their sons the tools to build their lives with. Talk about the
characteristics their dads build in their lives, such as patience,
love, understanding, wisdom, faithfulness, and devotion.
