A Prayer That God Will Raise Up An Army
Of Prayer Warriors Who Are Willing To Persevere In Prayer And Wage
War On Their Knees (Luke 18:1-8)
By Vickie Vest
-
That God would perform his Word, according to Luke
18:7 and 8: And shall not God avenge his own elect,
which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them?
I tell you that he will avenge them speedily.
-
That His people would be taught to be prayer warriors,
according to Psalm 144:1 and 2: Blessed be the LORD
my strength, which teacheth my hands to war, and my fingers
to fight: my goodness, and my fortress; my high tower, and my
deliverer; my shield, and he in whom I trust; who subdueth my
people under me.
-
That His people would become instruments of destruction
against Satan and his evildoers, according to Isaiah 41:15 and
16: Behold, I will make thee a new sharp threshing
instrument having teeth: thou shalt thresh the mountains, and
beat them small, and shalt make the hills as chaff. Thou shalt
fan them, and the wind shall carry them away, and the whirlwind
shall scatter them: and thou shalt rejoice in the LORD, and
shalt glory in the Holy One of Israel.
-
And according to Jeremiah 51:20 and 21: Thou
art my battle axe and weapons of war: for with thee will I break
in pieces the nations, and with thee will I destroy kingdoms;
and with thee will I break in pieces the horse and his rider;
and with thee will I break in pieces the chariot and his rider...
-
That His people would understand the nature of the
battle they are to be engaged in, according to 2 Corinthians
10:3-5: For though we walk in the flesh, we do not
war after the flesh: (For the weapons of our warfare are not
carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong
holds;) Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that
exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into
captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ...
-
That His people would clothe themselves appropriately
for battle, according to Ephesians 6:10-20: Finally,
my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his
might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to
stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against
flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers,
against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual
wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole
armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil
day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having
your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate
of righteousness; and your feet shod with the preparation of
the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith,
wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of
the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword
of the Spirit, which is the word of God: praying always with
all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto
with all perseverance and supplication for all saints; and for
me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my
mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel, for which
I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly,
as I ought to speak.
-
That His people would pray in the Spirit and with perseverance,
according to Ephesians 6:18: Praying always with all
prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto
with all perseverance and supplication for all saints...
A Prayer For A Visitation Of
God’s Saving Power (Revelation 22:20)
By Eleanor Sheeks
During this segment of our prayer, we are to pray for a visitation
of God’s saving power. First, the words of Jesus from the
very last chapter of the Bible—Revelation 22:
Verse 17 - Behold, I am coming soon.
Verse 12 - Behold, I am coming soon.
Verse 20 - Yes! I am coming soon.
Let us pray:
Lord, we have just heard again Your promise to us. We believe Your
promises are true. In this sacred time together in Your Word and
in prayer, we want to affirm to You and to one another that we really
do believe You are coming again. We confess again that as a denomination
and as individuals we believe in the premillenial second coming
of Christ. We believe there is eternal life for the righteous—and
we believe there is eternal punishment for the wicked-eternal punishment
without liberation or annihilation for everyone who does not come
to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.
It is this belief that gives this prayer its urgency. We’re
not comfortable with the images of eternal punishment. We’re
not comfortable with the prospect of eternal punishment for anyone!
So we’re asking You to extend Your great grace, multiply Your
mercy, and pour out Your Spirit so that our family, friends, neighbors...
people of all ages everywhere will be drawn to You... so they cannot
escape the voice of the Spirit and the Bride saying "Come!
Come whoever is thirsty, let him come. Whoever wishes... whosoever
will... let him take the free gift of the water of life.”
Lord, visit this planet with salvation.
I thank You that we can pray this prayer with absolute confidence
that we are praying according to Your will. It is for this very
purpose that You came and lived among us - You came to seek and
to save! Father, we thank You that You so loved
the world that You gave Your only son that whosoever - whosoever
- believed on Him should not perish but have everlasting life. You
did not send Your son into the world to condemn the world, but to
save the world through Him.
So this is a "Thy will be done on earth” prayer - for
it is not Your will that any should perish but that ALL would come
to repentance. This is Your will.
I’m bold in asking You for an old-fashioned visitation of
CONVICTION. I’m asking for an overwhelming move of the Holy
Spirit in this country and around the world. For You said when the
Holy Ghost comes, He will CONVICT the world of
guilt in regard to sin and righteousness and judgment. I’m
asking that people would be so overcome by the heaviness of sin
and guilt that they cannot rest or eat or tend to the routine demands
of their lives until they confront Jesus as Savior and Lord.
I’m also asking for an old-fashioned visitation of TRUE CONFESSION
and REPENTENCE. Forgive us for our victim mentality that makes it
easy for us to rationalize behavior, justify sin, and disclaim personal
accountability. Drive us, by whatever means You must, to TRUE CONFESSION
- confession that means admitting our fault and repenting. May we
experience a wave of TRUE REPENTENCE - a repentance of being sorry
to the point of grief, turning and walking away from sin. Help people
everywhere to "repent and be converted that their sins may
be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence
of the Lord.” Give us a universal UNCOVERING
of sin... at every level of government, business and life. For "He
who covers his sins will not prosper, but whosoever confesses and
forsakes them will have mercy.”
A third element of this visitation of salvation—I’m
asking for a revival of the fear of God. God, You aren’t just
one of the guys. You aren’t like a doting parent who just
sits by and smiles while the world does as it pleases. Rather, You
have the capacity to be jealous, to be angry, and to pour out wrath
and judgment. Your character demands that You deal in justice, regardless
of the depth of Your great love for every man and woman.
Would You strike the world with such a profound sense of Your HOLINESS
and GREATNESS, and of human sin and weakness, that we can only stand
and move in awe and healthy fear before You. Give us a fear that
acknowledges that there is no creature hidden from Your sight, but
all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must
give account.
You say this is the whole duty of man - to fear God and keep His
commandments. This is bottom-line stuff. The fear of God leads to
wisdom and life. But we have fallen so short in our attitude toward
You. Forgive us. The fear of God has too often been sacrificed to
pluralism, relativism, humanism - to political correctness. Convict
us that there are absolutes to which we are accountable
and by which we will be judged. Send into our world a fear of God
that will stem the tide of moral erosion. I pray for a move of MORAL
CONVICTION, MORAL COURAGE, and a will to FEAR and PLEASE GOD rather
than man. Restore to the world an appreciation for REVERENCE, SILENCE,
SOLITUDE, AWE, and the FEAR OF GOD.
Lord, I believe You are coming soon. I have asked what I know You
desire to give. So hear this prayer for a visitation of Your SAVING
POWER. Would You grant this so we might say from our hearts, "EVEN
SO, COME, LORD JESUS.”
All who are in agreement, say AMEN.
Let us now join together in prayer, repeating after me:
Lord, we claim Your promise that when we agree in prayer... that
whatever we ask will be done.
Reveal to us now our role in the answer to this prayer.
Birth in us a sacrificial spirit, a will to pay whatever the cost
to see people saved.
Help us to understand there’s a time to celebrate—but
also a time to mourn, a time to grieve over sin. Give us broken
and contrite spirits.
Burn into our spirits our responsibility to be holy as You are
holy—and to live the Christ life before a lost and watching
world.
Amen.
A Prayer That God’s People Would Lay
Aside Their Differences, And Unite Behind The Desperate Need For
An Outpouring Of God’s Spirit In Revival (Ephesians 4:1-6)
By Vicky Hagan
"I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you
that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called, With
all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one
another in love; Endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in
the bond of peace. There is one body, and one Spirit, even as
ye are called in one hope of your calling; One Lord, one faith,
one baptism, One God and Father of all, who is above all, and
through all, and in you all” (Ephesians 4:1-6).
Let us look again at verse 3 and pull out the word unity. Unity
means oneness, harmony, one accord and undivided total - unity of
love. Unity of prayer will bring revival to our land.
Do we need revival?
Do we need revival?
Do we need revival?
Do we need revival?
My devotional word for this month is trust. How often
we go to the restaurant to eat, and we trust the cook. We go to
the bakery for our pastries, and we trust the baker. We go to the
doctor for our annual checkup and we trust the doctor.
But, to trust God, why is that so hard?
If He calmed the sea, He can calm the storm in your life.
Let us trust God for a mega revival!
A Prayer For A Spirit Of Prayer To Spread
Like Wildfire Across Our Work Until Every Church
Becomes A House Of Prayer (Matthew 21:13)
By Betty Rice
We need revival...
-
When we have time for sports, recreation, and entertainment,
but not for Bible study and prayer.
-
When we do not tremble at the Word of God.
-
When we seldom think thoughts of eternity.
-
When God’s people are more concerned about their jobs
and their careers, than about the Kingdom of God and the salvation
of the lost.
-
When church services are predictable and "business as
usual.”
-
When our children are growing up to adopt worldly values, secular
philosophies, and ungodly lifestyles.
-
When we are more concerned about the children’s education
and their athletic activities than about the condition of their
souls.
-
When sin in the church is pushed under the carpet.
-
When we tolerate "little” sins of gossip, a critical
spirit, and lack of love.
-
When politics determines position instead of seeking the will
of God.
-
When our singing is half-hearted and our worship lifeless.
-
When our hearts are cold and our eyes are dry.
"Give ear, O shepherd of Israel... thou that dwellest between
the cherubims, shine forth. ...Stir up thy strength, and come and
save us. ...Return, we beseech thee, O God of hosts: look down from
heaven, and behold, and visit this vine. ...Turn us again, O Lord
God of hosts, cause thy face to shine; and we shall be saved”
(Psalm 80).
A Prayer That God Will Increase Our Belief
In His Ability To Intervene Supernaturally And Do The Impossible.
A Prayer For A Desire To Fast As We Seek His Face (Hebrews 11:6)
By Leola Sellers
But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh
to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them
that diligently seek him (Hebrews 11:6).
1. Pray that God will increase our belief in His ability.
2. For God to intervene supernaturally and do the impossible.
3. Pray a desire to fast as we seek His face.
As I travel to different churches in various states, it is becoming
more obvious to me that the faith of God’s women has been
shaken. And many are losing their faith in God’s abilities.
In reflection, in my own life, approximately a week ago. My faith
was put to a great test when my youngest sister passed away, leaving
my fifteen-year-old nephew motherless and fatherless. I was believing
God for Brenda’s healing and I had many questions. It was
very hard for me to understand why. However, I persevered in knowing
that God never makes a mistake and He never is wrong. And He does
not always heal the way we would like. Sometimes death is the healing.
Therefore, we must walk by faith and not by sight.
I do not believe God is slack concerning His promises, and I encourage
you to seek His face that we might see the impossible possible.
It is my prayer that God releases His power in us. We know that
supernatural things only happen when we fast and pray. I pray that
God will give us an unbearable urge to fast and pray like never
before. Then and only then we will see God’s handy work.
A Prayer For Family Members To Become Humble
In Spirit, In Order That Their Prayers May Be Answered (1 Peter
3:7-12)
By Jan Timmerman
v. 7 Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge,
giving honor unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being
heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered.
v. 8 Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one
of another, love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous:
v. 9 Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing; but
contrariwise blessing; knowing that ye are thereunto called, that
ye should inherit a blessing.
v. 10 For he that will love life, and see good days, let him
refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile:
v. 11 Let him eschew evil, and do good; let him seek peace,
and ensue it.
v. 12 For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and
his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is
against them that do evil.
The Scripture is saying conduct your married life with understanding.
Honoring the woman as (physically) the weaker, but (realizing) that
you are joint heirs of the grace of life, in order that your prayers
may not be hindered. Prayers are hindered because of rights of a
family member. We do not have rights only privileges.
Families should be united in spirit, sympathizing with one another,
loving each other, being compassionate, tenderhearted and humble
minded.
Not ever returning evil for evil, or insult for insult. No tongue
lashing, but on the contrary, speak blessing praying for their welfare,
happiness, and protection. Have pity on those who mistreat you.
If we want to enjoy life and see good days, we must guard our tongue
from evil speaking.
We must turn from wickedness and search diligently for peace and
harmony in our homes. We must not merely desire peaceful relations
with God, our fellowman, and ourselves but we must pursue them and
go after them.
God’s eyes are upon those who will not compromise righteousness
and He will hear their cry, but He is against those who do evil,
and He will cut off the remembrance of them from the earth.
On a consistent basis Larry and I have purposed in our hearts to
do three things:
The enemy doesn’t like it when we pray in the Spirit because
he wants to hear and know what we say. By faith, and the Word of
God we can expect our prayers to be answered. And the Word declares
that, God will keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on
Him.
A Prayer That God And His Word Would Guide
All Decision Making By Our Church And Governmental Leaders
(Isaiah 55:8 and 9; 48:17)
By Luann Leonard
v. 8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your
ways my ways, saith the Lord.
v. 9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my
ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts your thoughts.
Man thinks he has been sent to this world endued with gifts and
powers to help him rise to a certain standard. Yet, God looks down
upon him with the tender eyes of a mother and the pitying heart
of a father. Asking, why do you spend your time in such vain pursuit?
No, His thoughts are not our thoughts.
God blesses the just and the unjust (raining on the just and the
unjust). He lovingly cares for all His creation.
To the woman caught in adultery, man says stone her, Jesus says
go and sin no more.
This chapter speaks of God’s sovereign mercy. No, His ways
are not our ways.
Isaiah 48:17 Thus saith the Lord, thy Redeemer,
the Holy One of Israel; I am the Lord thy God which teacheth thee
to profit, which leadeth thee by the way thou shouldest go.
God teaches us to profit from affliction. Afflictions are greatly
instrumental in turning our attention away from the world. They
may be a greater benefit by raising our affections to God.
Prayer: God, in the name of Jesus, we ask You
to anoint our president and government leaders with your thoughts
and lead them in Your ways to make the right decisions for our
country.
God, anoint all of our church leadership with Your thoughts and
lead them in the ways You want them to go. Give them Your strength.
Teach us Your ways that in difficult times we can run through
a troop (the enemy) and leap over a wall (difficulties); shouting,
"hallelujah!”
God wrap your arms of love around each of our ladies in leadership
and comfort them, and direct them in Your ways.
A Prayer That God Will Break Through Our
Complacency And Pride (Isaiah 29: 13 and 14)
By Leslie Durham
"The Lord says: These people come near to me with their mouth
and honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me.
Their worship of me is made up only of rules taught by men. Therefore,
once more I will astound these people with wonder upon wonder; the
wisdom of the wise will perish, the intelligence of the intelligent
will vanish.”
This particular verse reminds me of a popular praise and worship
song. "The Heart of Worship” came from youth outreach
center in London, called Soul Survivor. The founder and pastor Mike
Pilavachi, and several others in the church realized something was
missing in their worship. They had good variety, quality and substance
but something was missing. They decided to stop having worship as
the norm and began meeting in a circle with nothing to say unless
it truly came from a heart of worship. Out of this came the song
which states, "I’m coming back to the heart of worship
and it’s all about you, Jesus.” They may have read this
scripture. It is our responsibility to look deep into our hearts
and determine our reasons for the honor we give God. We can benefit
from the great blessings of God and not be confounded by His judgment.
Prayer: Dear God, we are so grateful for every
opportunity to praise you. We take this opportunity to look inside
our hearts and determine our motives in honoring you. Father,
help us not to be caught up in the religiosity of men but in true
worship of you. Help us to break through our complacency and pride
and focus on you. Take away the complacency which blocks us from
realizing our need to draw close to you and help us to realize
the pride that keeps us from worshipping you in Spirit and truth.
We give you the praise and glory for all the wonderful things
you have accomplished in our lives and will try to continue to
do so with a pure heart.
