OVER 1,500 WOMEN ATTEND LUNCHEON

A sellout crowd of 1,557 women gathered in the Marriott Ballroom of the Downtown Marriott hotel on Thursday, July 27, 2006, for lunch and a massive celebration. Sponsored by the International Department of Women’s Ministries, the event commemorated seventy years as an organized part of the departmental structure of the Church of God. International President DeRosa McGuire was honored for her leadership during 2004-06.

The power-packed program featured the ministry of Karen Heimbuch who performed nine chapters of the Book of the Revelation to the accompaniment of recorded music composed expressly for Reverend Heimbuch and performed by the world famous London Symphony Orchestra. Ms. Heimbuch has performed The Revelation to audiences around the world including such notable events as Joyce Meyer Annual Women’s Conference, National Religious Broadcasters Convention, Christian Booksellers Association Convention, The Church on the Way, and Trinity Broadcasting Network.

Danny Murray of Lee University and Voices of Lee spotlighted the 70-year history of Women’s Ministries with a musical presentation of gospel songs typical of those sung during each of the 7 decades from 1936-2006.

The program also celebrated the success of the 2004-06 Women With A Mission fund raising campaign for the benefit of Peniel Ministries, a drug and alcohol rehabilitation ministry in Johnstown, Pennsylvania. A total of $515,000.00 was raised for Peniel. An anonymous donor will match that amount bringing the total giving to over one million dollars. A brief video presentation introduced the 2006-08 WWAM project which will benefit the Nyamphande Orphanage in Zambia, Africa.

The International Department of Women’s Ministries is part of the Church of God (Cleveland, TN) and seeks to lead women in ministering to other women in their families, churches and communities. The traditional activities of Women’s Ministries includes a biennial international conference the next of which, called Renewal ’07 – A Fresh Anointing will convene at the Hyatt Regency Riverfront Hotel in Jacksonville, Florida, October 12-14, 2007.
